Activities Report

  • Initially Father David Battina started this initiative single handedly by providing shelter to one old lady at his residence at Nerul, Navi Mumbai.

  • The expenses incurred for food, medicines and other day to day needs were being met out of his own pocket from his salary.

  • As our vision began taking concrete shape, we desired to officially register the Royal Mansion Foundation in the coming year.

  • During this time, we started planning for a separate flat in order to accommodate these destitute ladies.

  • At this time, help started coming from like minded people in providing basic amenities, monthly ration etc.

  • It was in 2018 that Bro.Nanaraju Kusuma, who is a well-wisher of Father David, agreed to rent his own flat at the ground floor of Royal Ozone CHS at Panvel.

  • We could accommodate the two destitute ladies namely Smt.Mary & Smt. Sugnani to this flat at Panvel and also reach out to some more destitutes, who needed a roof over their heads.

  • On the occasion of the 50th birthday of Father David Battina, we inaugurated the facility at Royal Ozone with a small gathering of well wishers.

  • Father David also shared his vision & purpose of the Royal Mansion Foundation and solicited the prayers/advisory support of the well-wishers.
  • We continued to take care of the aged people in addition to helping the needy with monthly ration to many families.
  • However, due to some unforeseen and unprecedented circumstances, we had to shift to a flat on the first floor in the same building owned by Bro.Wilson Pinape in 2020 and continued to take care of the aged inhabitants.
  • We also started providing basic medical care from time to time to the aged ladies under the able guidance of Madam Shobharani Battina & Mrs.Elizabeth Mettu, who are qualified experienced medical professionals working in Sion hospital & Terna hospital.
  • Our initiative gathered momentum with logistics & small financial support from like minded people. Many people from all walks of life started to do their bit for the foundation.
  • Many of our experienced well-wishers and advisors, after witnessing the good work being done, suggested that we should officially register the Royal Mansion Foundation and obtain a Registration number.
  • In this year, The Royal Mansion Foundation was officially registered vide Regd.No. E-11971 dated 3rd February 2020 at Thane.
  • Father David Battina, Founder & Managing Trustee, along with other two trustees decided to convene our first meeting on 11th February 2020, wherein an Executive Board was constituted.
  • Father David Battina was unanimously appointed as the Managing Trustee of Royal Mansion Foundation by the Executive Board.
  • It was decided to apply for a PAN Card in the name of Royal Mansion Foundation and also to open a dedicated Bank Account in a nationalized Bank. It was also decided to print receipt & voucher books.
  • However, towards the last week of March 2020, a total lockdown was declared due to the pandemic called COVID 19.
  • We at Royal Mansion Foundation immediately sprung into action even after lockdown was announced.
  • Under the leadership of Father David Battina, we started by distributing refreshment packets to the Police personnel who were posted on the streets of Mumbai after obtaining necessary permissions.
  • These Police personnel who were posted on 24x7 basis in order to impose total lockdown on the streets of Mumbai were so relieved to receive small packets of refreshments and cartons of buttermilk, really appreciated our efforts.
  •
  • This year proved to be the most difficult time for humanity due to the first wave of COVID 19 starting from March 2020.

  • However, our charitable work continued with proper permissions during the lockdown.

  • Many families, especially the daily wage earners, started approaching us for their basic needs, as there was little or no income.

  • We could distribute groceries to around 40 to 45 such needy families with the help of well-wishers.

  • All this was done in addition to taking care of the elderly people residing in Royal Ozone.

  • It was a very big challenge for us to arrange for groceries, medicines etc. for these destitute ladies, which we could do with some help from our well-wishers.

  • However, due to some issues with the Royal Ozone Society regarding strict restrictions during lockdown, we had to shift to the second floor in the same building.

  • Our charity work continued with greater zeal.

  • We started looking out for a bigger place for the Royal Mansion in order to make provision for accommodating more aged ladies keeping in mind the primary aim of RMF.

  • In the mean time, we continued to provide basic groceries to some more needy families as the pandemic continued to drastically affect the lower strata of society.
  • As decided in the first Board Meeting on 11th February 2020, we opened a Bank Account in the name of Royal Mansion Foundation on 11th January 2021, even as the first wave of the pandemic started receding.

  • We continued to lovingly nurture and take care of our two “Queens” Smt.Mary and Smt. Sugnyani throughout the second wave in 2021.
  • The charitable activities of Royal Mansion Foundation during the pandemic years was well received and appreciated during the better part of 2021.

  • Post pandemic second wave, we started getting more requests from our well-wishers and supporters who had identified few more ladies who were either abandoned by their families, due to the repercussions of the pandemic or who were just lying on the roadside with no one to take care of them.

  • As we were already on the look out for a bigger facility, Father David Battina was introduced by a close friend to Father P.K.Joshua, who is the founder of Eternal Hope Charity Mission at Ashtegaon, Panvel.

  • On hearing Father David’s vision of RMF and the exemplary work being done during the past two years, Father P.K.Joshua offered a vacant and unused dormitory which had enough space to accommodate around 12 beds, complete with a kitchen and two washrooms and surrounded with a beautiful compound, on rental basis.

  • The dormitory along with the surrounding premises were renovated and handed over to RMF on 2nd November 2021.

  • The two Queens who were in Royal Ozone were shifted to the new dormitory at Panvel after furnishing the dormitory with the required furniture and fixtures from our well-wishers.

  • Mary Ramamurthy Sapireddy, aged 72 yrs was the 4th Queen to be admitted into RMF from Colaba, due to the same reason.

  • Janabai Shrimant Rao, aged 66 yrs was the 5th Queen to be admitted into RMF also from Colaba.

  • In the same month, i.e. November 2021, Smt.Vasanti Dhanraj Kadam, aged 71 yrs was admitted into RMF as her children were unable to take care of her.

  • The new facility of the Royal Mansion Foundation was inaugurated by esteemed local governing authorities from the Police & Forest Departments and Gram Panchayat on 13th November 2021, which was attended by many well-wishers and dignitaries.

  • The highlight of the inauguration function was to honour all ‘Queens’ and also the senior citizen attendees by seating them on the ‘Royal Chair’, which was the brain child of Father David. The special made to order Throne Chair is to welcome the ‘Queens’ by seating them and putting a tiara on their head, to make them feel special.
  • On 22nd November 2021, an aged lady lying all alone on the streets of Colaba was picked up and admitted to the Royal Mansion after informing the local authorities from the Police Department. This lady whose name is Smt.Lata Mhaske, was in a very pitiful condition with no one to care for. Since that time she has been taken well care of and leading a peaceful life till date.

  • On 31st December 2021, another mentally challenged aged lady was identified as Smt.Nirmiti Popalkar on the streets of Kalachowkie bus stop where she stayed since three years, was also admitted into RMF. She was found with her hair disheveled, lying all alone. She is also happily leading a peaceful life in the serene atmosphere in RMF till date.

  • During the month of December 2021, Smt.Lata Mhaske started experiencing breathing problems and had to be hospitalized in MGM Hospital at Kamothe, for a week. During that time Sis.Vijaya Gohil, Secretary of RMF organized the paper work and hospital formalities and also took personal care of Smt.Lata Mhaske as her own child till such time she was discharged. Father David also spent entire sleepless nights on the floor of the ICU just to be near her.

  • This kind of selfless service of Father David & Sis.Vijaya Gohil has inspired the entire team of RMF who are encouraged to do their bit according to their ability.

  • The team ensures that all the ‘Queens’ are fed royally with the best of fruits, vegetables, eggs & meat, which are prepared according to a diet chart with respect to their health condition.

  • Medical OPD profiles have been registered and opened in the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) for all the ‘Queens’ to ensure timely medical treatments as and when required.

  • On 12th February 2022, Smt.Kamini Kamlakar Dame, aged 82 yrs was admitted to RMF from another NGO at Khanda Colony, Panvel, by her Brother-in-law. She is being very well taken care of and leading a peaceful life in the mansion.

  • On 18th February 2022, Smt.Kannaki, aged 62 yrs was admitted to RMF from Ulwe, Navi Mumbai. She is happily leading her life along with her fellow ‘Queens’.

  • Charusheela Gaikwad has been appointed as a Supervisor for overseeing the well being of the ‘Queens’, to ensure that they eat and take their medicines on time and also lead a life of discipline.

  • All the ‘Queens’ are encouraged to engage themselves in some or the other household activity as per their ability and willingness for their physical health.

  • On 21st February 2022, a well wisher’s son, Dr.Oleen Raj, who is a Doctor of medicine by profession, volunteered to conduct medical check-up on all the ‘Queens’ and referred further treatment in Terna Medical Hospital at Nerul (West), Navi Mumbai, for Smt.Vasanti and Smt.Kamini, who are facing some health issues. All medical tests were conducted and treatment is being given according to the diagnosis. Now their health is much better.

RMF will take care of helpless aged women and treat them as Queens in the last innings of their lives
